A few days ago we bought this awesome ceramic sculpture by our friend and neighbor Naomi DeMuth and installed it in our back yard.  I have become very fond of this thing.  Certain works of art come to take on an idiosyncratic and personal symbolic significance for me, like this one.  Acquiring this sculpture shortly before our wedding (and coincidentally just before the publication of Heidi’s book), it seems to be a harbinger of a new, more expansive, and richer phase of our lives, a bringer of blessings.  And perhaps also a benevolent watcher, a kind of sentinel.  I imagine it is saying to us, “I am here now.  You should be here now too.”
